At the Root River Inn, we aim to provide an enjoyable, stress-free experience. Every guest reservation is important to us. With that in mind, we have the following policies to ensure the comfort, safety and consideration of ALL our guests. We ask that you please review and consider these as you plan your stay with us.
Cancellations
Our cancellation/change of date policies are as follows:
Cancellations are no fun for anyone, especially if it due to some unforeseen event. That why we strongly encourage you to add “Travel Protection” to your reservation. You can add it to your cart, as well as read more details about it on the booking page.
From May - October a 14-day notice (3 p.m. check in CST) is required for cancellation with a full refund.
Cancellations with only 7-14 days notice will result in a charge equal to one night stay, plus applicable taxes.
No shows and any cancellation made less than 7 days prior to a reserved stay (3 p.m. check-in CST) will result in full charges for the entire stay.
Winter: We understand that driving conditions may change drastically from the time a reservation has been made and want you to be able to plan time away pending weather decisions. For Nov-April reservations are refundable/moveable up to 3pm day of check-in.
Holiday and Event weekends, as well as group reservations of 3 or more rooms will require a full 30-day cancellation (3 p.m. check in CST). Cancellations between 15- and 30-days prior will result in forfeiture of the 50% deposit. Cancellation with less than 15 days’ notice will result in full charges for the entire stay, plus applicable taxes.
No cancellations accepted by e-mail. A cancellation is not considered valid until it has been received and confirmed with a phone call.
Reservation & Payment
A credit card is required to hold a reservation. Unless booking a “Travel Protection” covered stay, a charge of 50% of the stay will be made at the time of the reservation with the balance due at the end of your stay. If booking a “Travel Protection” covered stay, the full amount will be charged when making the reservation.
We accept payments by cash, check, Visa, Mastercard and Discover. American Express is not accepted.
All rates are based on 1 or 2 adult guests. There is a charge of $20 per additional adult guest/per night. Pastries are provided one per registered guest per night, so make sure your reservation reflects the correct number of adults and children.
* All rates are subject to state, county and city sales taxes, plus a Lanesboro lodging tax. Rates and policies are subject to change without prior notice.
Minimum Stay
During peak season, (April-November) all stays involving a Friday or Saturday night stay have a 2-night minimum.
The Preston, Rushford, Lanesboro and Chosen Valley Suites always require a two-night stay, year round.
Three-night minimum is required in all rooms and suites for Memorial Day, July 4th weekend, Buffalo Bill Days (First weekend in August), and Labor Day. No discounted rates will apply during events and holidays.
Check-in/ Check-Out
We pride ourselves in providing a clean and rejuvenating place for our guests. In order to do this well, we do not allow early check-ins or late check-outs.
Check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Check-in time is 3:00 p.m.
Smoking
Smoking is only allowed in the designated smoking area at the parking lot, in the alley, or on the sidewalk between the street and retaining wall. A Room Recovery fee of $250 will be charged for any room or suite that has been smoked in.
For safety and to assure that our facility is not exposed to items or actions that create an odor which is unhealthy and/or objectionable to our guests and staff, and that is difficult to remove from the air, carpet, walls, and furniture. We do not permit smoking tobacco, marijuana or illegal drugs. Odorous E-cigarettes, vape pens and vaping are not allowed on the property, including, but not limited to CBD, Hookahs, incense, cigars, and the diffusing of oils. These items and activities will be treated as smoking, a fine accessed.
Non-scented e-cigarettes are allowed outdoors on the property.
Marijuana is prohibited at all times on any part of the property. Illegal drugs are not permitted on our property and will be reported to the police.
Candles are prohibited indoors or outdoors.
Guests are encouraged to notify staff immediately if they smell cigarette, marijuana, or other objectionable odors.
For our suite guests, we would appreciate that you wash and clean your dishes. If you leave them you will be charged up to a $40 cleaning fee.
A fee may also be charged for any damage, loss or excessive cleaning.
Cleaning
We are bike friendly. We know your bike is important to you so have a locked bike room to keep your bike safe but we don’t allow bike storage on decks or in rooms. We also have a bucket, rags and hose if you would like to wash down your bike at any time. An air compressor can be found in our bike room as well.
An additional $50 cleaning fee may be applied if bikes are found in your room.
Bikes
We are winter sport friendly. We know your equipment is important to you. We have a locked equipment room, but we don’t allow equipment storage on decks or in rooms.
Skis & Snowshoes
Visitors
Preserving the enjoyment of the property and grounds of the Root River Inn for our registered guests is extremely important to us.
Guests should consult management before hosting visitors. Management reserves the right to ask visitors to leave the grounds if we feel they are inhibiting that enjoyment, posing a liability risk or endangering anyone. All visitors must be offsite by 10:00 p.m.
Management reserves the right to expel any disruptive or destructive visitors or guests without refund.
No pets are allowed on property.
