The Root River State Trail travels from the town of Fountain to Houston, passing through the towns of Lanesboro, Whalan, Peterson, and Rushford. There's also a connector trail that leads the way to the beautiful towns of Harmony and Preston. The trail rises and falls with the bluffs as it winds its way through the historic towns and past the rolling farmland in between.
