Lanesboro puts together an annual festival as an ode to Buffalo Bill Cody who visited Lanesboro and his friend White Beaver in the late 1800’s. While here, they got the idea to start his Wild West shows and it is said put of the first of them, right here in town. Buffalo Bill Days consists of booths, softball and sand volleyball tournaments, a street dance, fireworks, and a fantastic Sunday parade.

This year marks 30 years for the Lanesboro Art Gallery – now a part of Lanesboro Arts. In the 1990s, the Cornucopia Gallery began showing artwork from the regions many talented creators. Later, that effort would evolve into the present-day galleries at Lanesboro Arts. Over the last three decades, hundreds of artists have shown their work in solo and group shows in the Exhibition Gallery or sold their pieces in the Sales Gallery.

River Crossing is a unique trio that plays an eclectic mix of songs that are sure to engage. From bluesy tunes and classic rhythm and blues that are as catchy as they are infectious, to deep roots that will have you stomping along., to neo-soul and modern singer song-writer tunes that welcome you to sit back, soaking it in. There are classics from the likes of CCR, Stevie Wonder and ZZ Top, as well as lesser know, but rich tunes by artists like Leon Bridges, Amos Lee and Moreland & Arbuckle.
The focal point of Art in the Park is of course the art! Fine art and fine craft artist booths encircle Sylvan Park underneath canopies of shade, featuring a wide variety of artist-made work by over 90 artists from the tri-state region. Artwork last year included paintings, photography, fine jewelry, textile rugs & quilts, hand thrown ceramics, stained glass, original paintings, blown & fused glass sculptures, artworks utilizing reclaimed wood, stoneware clay pottery, metalwork, woven baskets, whimsical welded yard art, and more.
The Minnesota State Legislature recognized Lanesboro as the Rhubarb Capital of Minnesota by proclamation in 2008.
The heart of the festival takes place in Sylvan Park in downtown Lanesboro. Start by browsing the Lanesboro Farmers Market where you'll find all the in-season spring vegetables and other local delights. Then enjoy the fun-filled festival entertainment and food, plus try your hand at the free rhubarb games and contests. Great prizes for all events! Stay in town and check out our local merchants, and all the town has to offer.
Other free entertainment includes a rhubarb fashion show (you can be in it),goat chill out , and Rhub-Art opportunities. Music fills the park the entire day so bring your lawn chair and enjoy it all! This year music is provided by a variety of local rhubarb-lovin' musicians.
Vendors provide opportunities to purchase additional rhubarb treats and products.
Lanesboro Arts is thrilled to present “Origin”, a short film by Catherine Glynn and Liz Bucheit exploring family history, cultural identity, Norwegian mythology, and the price one pays to outrun misfortune. “Origin” will premiere on Friday, March 31 at 7 p.m. at the St. Mane Theatre in downtown Lanesboro. It runs 25 minutes. The showing will be immediately followed by a talkback session with the film’s creators, performing artist Catherine Glynn and artisan goldsmith Liz Bucheit.
Root River Inn & Suites will be showing 1920's black and white films on the half hour from 7-9pm in Bluff Country Hall. These will setup in Open House style, so come and go as you wish. These are the “silent” films of the 1920’s era that will get you in the early Hollywood glamour mood which is the theme for Lanesboro’s 2022 NYE celebrations. Come up the historic stairs from main street to the entrance on the 2nd floor.

Lanesboro Arts presents “Fables from Yesterday”, an exhibition showcasing ceramic sculptures by Susan Strand-Penman. The show opens on Saturday, October 22nd with an artist reception from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.; the show runs through December 22nd. Always free and open to the public, gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Kick off the holiday season and come to the welcoming and picturesque towns of Lanesboro and Whalan on Small Business Saturday! These quaint towns become even more magical during the holiday season (think Hallmark movie!) with storefronts and streetlamps decorated and alit against the backdrop of the bluffs. This year there will be many free-of-charge family-friendly activities, delicious eats and drinks, unique gift shopping, and plenty of photo ops! We also heard that Santa will be making a visit....

This Jam Band plays some scary, classic Neil Young Tunes, Rock, Blues, 70’s & Country. Come in your Halloween costume and dance the night away! Almost every band member sings lead at some point, delivering a unique blend of songs and styles to the stage. Guest musicians often join in for extra entertainment.

Craving more live music in Lanesboro? We've got you covered! On October 8th, Lanesboro Arts presents singer-songwriter Laura Lamb live at the St. Mane. Laura Lamb was born and raised in Minnesota, but honed her craft in Nashville. She is known for her smooth and melancholy voice, which MSP Magazine says was "made for live music" The concert starts at 7pm. Tickets will be $15 if you purchase them online in advance, and $20 dollars at the door.
Lanesboro Arts is thrilled to have Kiss the Tiger kick off Rhythms on the Root 2022 on Saturday, July 9th from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be $15 for attendees ages 13 and older. Kids 12 and under get in for free, but will still need a ticket. Rhythms on the Root invites visitors to celebrate together with live music along the river at Gateway Park.
